FC Barcelona experienced a historic day with the first match at the new Spotify Camp Nou, a long-awaited return after the stadium’s renovation works and a decisive step in the new era of Espai Barça. It was a day of major institutional significance, reflected in the notable presence of guests in the presidential box, where representatives from public institutions, culture, the media, Catalan civil society and the sports world gathered.
The political representation was led by the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, the President of the Parliament of Catalonia, Josep Rull, and the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, accompanied by the Catalan Sports Minister, Berni Álvarez, and other key institutional figures from the City Council and Parliament.
The VIP Box also welcomed prominent cultural figures and leaders of major Catalan institutions, including the presidents of the Palau de la Música, the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Godó Group, as well as directors of major media outlets such as TV3, Catalunya Ràdio, La Vanguardia, El Periódico, ARA and Mundo Deportivo. Their presence reinforced the Club’s strong ties to the cultural and communicative landscape of the country.
Also attending were names linked to the history and legacy of FC Barcelona, such as Xavier and Daniel Gamper, grandchildren and great-grandchild of founder Joan Gamper, along with former players, coaches and representatives from the Club’s various sports sections. Members of the women’s team, roller hockey, handball and futsal sections were also present.
The cultural highlight of the day came with the presence of Bizarrap, the duo Estopa, and Catalan groups The Tyets and Figa Flawas, the latter performing on the pitch before kick-off and at half-time.
Before the match, Club President Joan Laporta led an institutional reception with the delegation of Athletic Club and presented a membership card to Mr. Alfred Gusenbauer, strengthening institutional ties and the Club’s social dimension.
The debut at the new stadium concluded in a festive atmosphere, underscoring the symbolism of a day that marked the beginning of a new era for FC Barcelona, both sportingly and institutionally.
