Central defender Ani Escribano (Barcelona 1981) experienced two very different periods blaugrana women's football and captained the side for ten seasons

Ani joined Barça Women in 1999 aged 17, when the team was still called Club Femenino Barcelona. She stayed until 2013, a total of 14 years, during which she saw a lot of change. The team was in the Primera Nacional league (second division of women's football) from 2001-04 and the 2007/08 season, but she managed to get the team to become fully absorbed into FC Barcelona in 2002. Team captain from 2003, Ani Escribano was able to experience the end of the first golden period for Barça Women, when two Liga titles and two Copa de la Reina were won.

After winning the Liga title with the Club in 2012/13, Ani left to go and play for Icelandic side IBV. A few days later she would confess, “When it comes to Spain, I miss my Barça teammates, we were like a family. I also miss shaking everyone's hand as I entered the dressing room, teammates and the coaching staff. It was a habit, an obsession. I always did it”.
