FC Barcelona’s eight internationals kicked off their preparations for the 2014/15 season this afternoon as they participated in their first training session with the team. Earlier today they passed their medical and physical exams at the Ciutat Esportiva. Luis Enrique worked with 24 players today, 16 of whom were first team players now that the internationals – Piqué, Jordi Alba, Sergio, Song, Xavi, Iniesta, Rakitic and Pedro – are back from holiday.
This was Ivan Rakitic’s first ever training session with his new teammates. The midfielder was officially presented on July 1 after Croatia were eliminated from the World Cup.
A handful of Barça B players participated in the session. On this occasion, eight players from the reserve side – Patric, Edgar Ié, Grimaldo, Smaper, Halilovic, Munir, Sandro and Adma – joined their senior side counterparts. Adriano Correia continued his training apart from the group.
The team will return to training on Friday, the first session is scheduled for 9:30 AM CET and the second one will take place at 6:30 PM CET at the Ciutat Esportiva.
