FC Barcelona B v CD Eldense: Happy last fixture at Miniestadi (1-0)

Gerard López’s side take three points thanks to second half strike from Dani Romera but deserved to win by a much wider margin following dominant display

Barça B have beaten Eldense 1-0 in the last game of the season at the Miniestadi thanks to a second half goal from Dani Romera. They probably deserved to win by a wider margin, but luck was not with them in front of goal. The three points move them higher in the league table with one game to go, next week at Olímpic Xàtiva.

It was an intense effort from the start by the reserves, with Cámara missing a fine chance after eight minutes and many more to follow, while Barça keeper Ortolà had a very quiet first half indeed.

And his day became quieter still when the visitors were reduced two ten men after Cañadas was red carded for a second bookable offence. Perea, Cámara and Xemi all came close towards the break, but by the end of the first 45 minutes there was still no score.

Justice served

The total domination continued after the pause, but this time the intensity was rewarded. Perea supplied the assist to an active Romera, and the Miniestadi was able to celebrate a goal that had taken rather too long in the coming. It also served to wake up the visitors somewhat, who managed to cause moments of danger, especially from set pieces.

The game had opened up, and Barça had plenty of opportunity to seal the points on the counter attack. The closest came when Chamorro sent the ball onto the visiting crossbar, and in the final minute Kaptoum almost finished off a wonderful solo run with a goal, but the ball skimmed wide of the post.

But despite the lack of goals, it was a solid performance from Barça B in their final home fixture of the Division 2B season.
