HC Liceo 2-1 Barça: A bitter start in the OK League

Barça lost in the first leg match after being unbeaten for an incredible 52 games in the league

After a total of 52 unbeaten matches in the OK League, dating back to November 18, 2017, Barça lost their opening game of the 2019/20 campaign to Liceo (2-1). Goals from Franco Platero and Marc Grau handed victory to the Galicians.

Hosts start well

The match didn't start well for the visitors with Franco Platero opening the scoring after a swift counterattack (1-0, min 11). Just two minutes later, Marc Grau doubled the lead with a spoon shot (2-0, min 13). Barça tried to react but were unable to get past a solid defence. In fact, both Roberto Di Benedetto and Maxi Oruste had the chance to increase Liceo's lead before the break.

In the second half Helder Nunes crashed a shot against the post as Barça went close, but it wasn't until the last minute when Ignacio Alabart cut the deficit (2-1, min 50). Barça's next match in on Saturday 28 against Girona at the Palau Blaugrana (7.30pm CEST).
