Gerard Piqué has become the joint highest scoring defender in Champions League history after netting against Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday. His 16th goal in the competition pulls him level with Real Madrid’s Roberto Carlos, and one ahead of Sergio Ramos and Iván Helguera, with Dani Alves next on the list with 12.
Third against Dynamo Kíev
Curiously, Piqué’s 15th goal in the competition was also against the Ukrainians at the Camp Nou a year ago, and was his third in total against Dynamo. He has also scored thrice against Roma.
Barça's oldest European scorer
Gerard Piqué also became the oldest player to score for Barça in the UCL. Age 34 years and 260 days, he surpasses Sylvinho, who was 34 years and 241 days when he scored against Shakhtar Donetsk in 2008
